Soils & Soil Amendments         

We carry four soil mixes that we qualify as "Top Soils"; these can also be used mixed with amendments, or beneath ground cover. Our soils and amendments are sold by the bag, which hold two cubic feet of material, or by the cubic yard. Amendments can be mixed directly into your existing soil, used with one of our soil mixes, or even as a decorative ground cover. This is the standard mix for all-purpose loam: a loam rich in organic amendments.

C-Topsoil

With sandy loam as a base, this is the choice for lawns and sod. It is also a good rich medium for mounding and general gardening. This is our most acidic soil.

Excellent for raised beds and potting: light and rich. Mushroom compost, chicken manure and perlite are added to a base of loam, wood mulch, and sawdust.

Premium Nursery Mix

Our finest topsoil: rich and well draining. Ideal for rooting, potting, raised beds, and vegetable gardens. Composed of loam, sawdust, lava rock, sand, organic compost enriched with chicken manure and a small amount of 12-12-12 slow release fertilizer.

Z-Compost

Suitable for certified organic gardens, a very rich mix of plant compost and aged chicken manure.

For breaking up and enriching the typical Bay Area clay soil. Contains high proportions of red lava and aged chicken manure

Mix with soil to add organic matter and increase acidity. Also use to cover and protect seed from birds. Nitrolized to prevent leaching of nitrogen.
